Steps to Build a Water Wall
Stacking rocks or slate to build a water wall may require a lot of materials and effort. But I assure you that in the end your hard work and expenses will all be worth it. River rocks, cobble stones or slate will be used to fill your reservoir. You might also want to consider adding some natural flowers and plants like water lilies or maybe even some koi fish. These will add a dash of exotic beauty to your water wall.
Before you start to build a water wall, clean the area meticulously. Get rid of any rocks, grass or debris and make sure the ground is as level as possible. Measure and mark the area of your water wall and excavate the ground where you plan to put the pond liner. Secure the reservoir/pond liner in the hole.
Mix the cement and place a thin layer on the ground where you plan to build a water wall. Then you can begin to stack the first row of slate. Uniformly run the trowel along the surface of the wet cement. Carefully stack each slate on top of the cement and press each slate firmly into the ground. Put another thin layer of cement over the top of the first row of slate and stack your second row. Apply the cement and stack the slates alternately until you have reached your desired water wall height. Before you do anything else, you have to wait for the cement to dry.
The next step you will take to build a water wall is to attach your recirculating pump to the plastic tubing. Now place the pump in the pond liner. Situate the plastic hose in the area of the water wall that is not is not visible in plain view. You can run this up one side of the water wall or camouflage in somewhere in the middle of the wall in between the rocks.
To complete your build a water wall project, add some river rocks and natural plants in and around your reservoir. This will certainly add to the ambiance and the natural beauty of your water wall. Now fill the reservoir with water, plug in the pump and turn it on. Your fountain pump should have a control system which you can adjust as needed.
